22:00 Ogras

Ogras's making a jump start on this year's Moldejazz with a thrilling concert with catchy melodies and energetic rhythms. It's a safe bet to start the festival in style with a band that's rumoured to treat their audience to a proper party.

Ogras is the band that takes you across Balkan plains, through dusty circus tents and Irish pubs. When they're taking over our venue, Alexandraparken, and Sparebank 1 SMN stage Saturday, 13 July, all is set for a pre-party that'll certainly put the audience in the mood before the festival kicks off!

Ogras is the band from Åndalsnes – an hour drive from Molde – with a popularity that's grown in parallel to the number of members in the band. In recent years, the band's built up a reputation for their live shows that's made them a true festival favourite. Both at the Steinkjer Festival, Livestock and not least at «home» at Raumarock, the band made a total furore last year. The musicality's at the centre of this band and its 6 members, three initially, treat their audience with to 12 (!) instruments on stage.

In order to describe the music, you'd think of Irish Balkan rock, mixed with a pinch of punk and a handful of Tom Waits. The band's had a rapid development following their victory in contest, «Øresus» in 2010 and in 2017 they finally released their first album Compadre. A new album is in the works and with their catchy melodies and energetic rhythms, there is always life in the audience when Ogras plays up. It's simply the perfect jazz festival pre-party!

Filip Eidsvåg – drums / Paul Vidar Solåt – vocals and guitar / Knut Peder Voldset - guitar, banjo and Harmonica / Thomas Dahle – bass / Pål Elnan – keys, mandolin and trumpet / Aleksander Eidsvåg – violin.
